The four defense primes all reported beats this week, but only Lockheed was paid enough to clear its 200-day: it closed 6.7% over the line at an RSI of 78, the only reading of 70 or higher on the list, while 20 of 22 names with a 200-day still sit under theirs (from 21 of 22). Lockheed (+9.44% on the week) and Northrop (+6.07%) rose after beat-and-raise quarters; RTX (-1.5%) and Teledyne (+1.1%) did not follow, and RTX's trailing-year alpha turned negative. Elbit gave back (-2.66%), AEVEX lost 32.5% on Wednesday with no cause on file, and the drone small caps bounced on Friday (AeroVironment +4.72%) without repairing anything: 18 of 22 names still carry negative alpha, and one small cap (Red Cat) and one fund (the REX Drone ETF) are in capitulation.

Numbers are the settled October 23 close for all 23 names (Friday); 7D is the five sessions since the October 16 close. The list is unchanged. AEVEX (AVEX) has no 200-day or trailing-year comparison; the REX Drone ETF (DRNZ) now has both. Comparison baseline is the October 16 scan.

Quick Snapshot

Signal Reading
Overall 🟡 A split book: 14 of 23 up on the week (from 9) and 14 of 23 up on Friday (from 9); 15 of 23 under their 20-day (from 14); 2 of 22 names with a 200-day above it (Lockheed, Motorola Solutions), from 1; 18 of 22 with negative trailing-year alpha (from 18 of 21); 4 with positive alpha (from 3); two names under RSI 25 (from three); one at RSI 70 or higher (Lockheed 78)
Leaders Lockheed (+9.44% week), nLIGHT (+7.93%), Axon (+7.71%), Amprius (+6.1%), Northrop (+6.07%). Highest RSI: Lockheed (78), Motorola Solutions (69), Northrop (67.7). Tessera (+16.61%) is excluded: a $0.26 micro-cap with a data caution below
Laggards AEVEX (-29.49% week, RSI 31.6), Red Cat (-6.14%, RSI 21.3), Kratos (-4.3%), the aerospace-and-defense fund ITA (-3.27%), Draganfly (-3.24%), Elbit (-2.66%)
The horizon check Above the 200-day: Lockheed (+6.7%, +23.79% year, alpha 10.66) and Motorola Solutions (+10.2%, +8.32% year, alpha -4.81). Under it with positive alpha: Elbit (-6.1%, +50.64% year, alpha 37.5), Teledyne (-0.9%, alpha 3.4), Unusual Machines (-11.1%, alpha 30.13). RTX is 2.1% under its line on a +6.45% year with alpha -6.68 (a week ago: +23.48% and +7.94). Northrop is 7.0% under on a -8.96% year (alpha -22.1)
Caveat The primes' moves coincide with dated company events (earnings releases, below); the small-cap and fund moves mostly do not. AEVEX's Wednesday drop is cause unknown: the October 21 market brief recorded it with nothing dated, and news pulled Thursday evening, stock-events and the week's captures show nothing new. News for Elbit, Axon, Amprius, Ondas, Draganfly, the ITA fund and Kraken's OTC line is weeks old (July 9 to October 16), so news was not pulled for their moves. Tessera's price history may not reflect a reverse split (below)

What's Going On

The primes reported, and the stocks sorted by the long window. RTX and Northrop reported October 20, Teledyne October 21 and Lockheed October 22; all four beat the provider's consensus EPS (RTX $2.26 against $1.78, +27.0%, including $0.25 from IEEPA cost recovery per Yahoo Finance; Northrop $7.89 against $7.18, +9.9%; Teledyne $6.72 against $6.17, +9.0%; Lockheed $7.97 against $7.52, +6.0%), and each raised its 2026 outlook in its release or call, as carried in the news checks. Lockheed also reported a record $292 billion backlog and announced a multiyear F-35 production and sustainment framework covering 850 US aircraft the same day (Lockheed newsroom and StockAnalysis page); Northrop's record backlog is $109.6 billion. Lockheed jumped 6.96% on Thursday (StockInvest.us page) and closed Friday at 604.18 (+2.42% on 1.44 times volume), 14.5% over its 20-day and 6.7% over its 200-day (566.29), 12.69% off its high, with a 612.75 pivot of a 13-week base. MarketBeat's Friday explainer credits the quarter, guidance, backlog and the F-35 framework: the press's stated reason. At RSI 78 it is extended, not an entry.

Northrop (551.44, RSI 67.7) rose 6.07% on the week and is 7.0% under its 200-day (592.7) on a -8.96% year, so the bounce has not reached the line. RTX (191.01, RSI 49.9) fell 0.9% on its report day (Yahoo Finance) and 1.9% on Friday; MarketBeat's page says it found little evidence of a new negative catalyst behind Friday's drop. It is 2.1% under its 200-day (195.18). Its trailing year shrank from +23.48% to +6.45% in a week and its alpha went from 7.94 to -6.68: RTX no longer outperforms the index over the year. Teledyne (625.41, RSI 55.4) is 0.9% under its line (631.06) with alpha 3.4 on a +16.53% year; its release raised full-year non-GAAP EPS to $25.40-$25.50 and its call announced the roughly $1.1 billion Varex acquisition, expected to close in early 2027. Motorola Solutions (481.83, RSI 69) is 10.2% over its 200-day and the heaviest-volume name on the list (1.79 times normal); no company item explains it, and its report is scheduled November 4 after the close (company-set).

Elbit gave back part of last week's jump. It closed at 735.34 (RSI 55, from 62.8), down 2.66% on the week, 6.1% under its 200-day (783.33), from 3.2%, on a +50.64% year with alpha 37.5. Its base pivot is 800.43. News was last pulled October 16, so news was not pulled for this week's move; its next report is November 24.

AEVEX is the week's wreck. It fell 32.5% on Wednesday, October 21, on 7.55 times volume to a new 52-week low (October 21 market brief) and closed Friday at 10.83, down 29.49% on the week and 74.42% off its high. The items on file are older: a class-action lead-plaintiff deadline of October 20 (MarketBeat), an RBC target cut to $26 from $31 on October 12 and a $92.2 million SkyRange award (October 21 brief). Cause unknown: the October 21 brief found nothing dated Wednesday, and news pulled Thursday evening, stock-events and the week's captures add nothing. It is too young for a 200-day, and its report is scheduled November 11 (provider estimate).

The small caps bounced on Friday and are still far under their lines. AeroVironment (123.25, RSI 36.2) rose 4.72%, the best on the list, and is still 35.6% under its 200-day (191.35) on a -66.17% year with alpha -79.3; Yahoo Finance's page for it carries an Oppenheimer note with a $205 target and two non-binding international partnerships, none dated to Friday, and no item is tied to the move. Unusual Machines (17.02, RSI 35.2) rose 4.61% and is the one small cap with positive alpha (30.13 on a +43.27% year), 11.1% under its line (19.15); it filed 8-Ks on October 22 and 23, contents not reviewed. Red Cat (4.43, RSI 21.3) is 58.5% under its 200-day on a -56.31% year; StockAnalysis shows Piper Sandler cutting its target to $6 from $9, and Yahoo and Google pages mention a tender offer for Steyr Motors (an 8-K was filed October 23, contents not reviewed). Kratos (38.68, RSI 31.3) is 41.4% under its line. Amprius (up 6.1% on the week) and Ondas have no news pulled since July and September, so no cause is checked for them.

Tessera (HLSQ) needs a data caution. It closed at $0.26 (RSI 27.1, +16.61% on the week, -4.05% Friday on 0.12 times volume), with a $0.7 million market value in the pull, a -99.76% year and a price 99.78% below its high. An 8-K summarized in its news pull says it raised more than $6 million through its at-the-market program by October 12 at about $1.11 a share "adjusted for the 1-for-10 reverse split", while the provider's split list was last checked September 24 and shows none. If a reverse split has happened and the history does not reflect it, the year, high and moving-average figures here are wrong; they are unverified tonight. The business-quality veto stands either way.

What Changed Since Prior Scan

  • Breadth: 14 of 23 up on the week (versus 9) and 14 of 23 up on Friday (versus 9). The lane ranking lists the drone lane as a turning laggard: 30-day relative strength -14.91 with seven-day strength turning positive, 94th of 125 lanes.
  • Above the 200-day: 2 of 22 (Lockheed, Motorola Solutions), versus 1. Lockheed crossed over (from 2.2% under); RTX's gap widened from 0.6% to 2.1% under; Elbit's from 3.2% to 6.1%; Northrop's narrowed from 12.5% to 7.0%.
  • Alpha: 4 positive (Elbit, Lockheed, Unusual Machines, Teledyne), versus 3 (Elbit, RTX, Unusual Machines); RTX dropped out, Lockheed and Teledyne joined. 18 of 22 negative, versus 18 of 21 (the REX Drone ETF now has a year).
  • RSI: Lockheed at 78 is the only reading of 70 or higher (last week's top was 64.7); 11 names at 40 or higher (versus 9); two under 25 (Red Cat 21.3, REX Drone ETF 21.4), versus three: Tessera moved up to 27.1.
  • Under the 20-day: 15 of 23, versus 14.
  • Reports: RTX, Northrop, Teledyne and Lockheed are out. Next on this list: Motorola Solutions (November 4, company-set), Kratos (November 3), Axon and Unusual Machines (November 5).

How To Read The Board

The primes' quarters were good and the long window is still the verdict. Lockheed is the only prime with a positive year and positive alpha above its 200-day. Teledyne is within a point of its line with positive alpha. RTX has just lost its alpha and sits 2.1% under its line; Northrop is the furthest from repair with a negative year. Motorola Solutions is above its line but carries negative alpha and RSI 69. A beat-and-raise that moves the stock 6% to 9% (Lockheed, Northrop) and one that does not (RTX, Teledyne) are different evidence about how much good news is already priced.

The small caps have the deepest trailing-year declines: AeroVironment (-66.17% year), Kratos (-56.7%), Red Cat (-56.31%), Draganfly (-56.55%), Axon (-41.32%) and Amprius (-29.85%). A long down year under the 200-day is what an early base looks like, and each one's 200-day (191.35, 66.02, 10.69, 5.83, 483.87, 13.43) is the line whose reclaim would end it; none is dropped for its year. AeroVironment's +4.72% and Amprius's +3.41% on Friday sit inside gaps of 35.6% and 39.1% to those lines, and a low RSI there is a reading, not a recommendation. AEVEX's drop adds a new unexplained move to the list.

The drone-defense campaign (status: monitoring) covers AeroVironment, Kratos and Red Cat only. Its own dated tests are Kratos on November 3, Red Cat in November (provider dates differ: November 5 and November 12), and AeroVironment's December 2 report, with the next scheduled review December 11 or earlier on a funded award, a stop-work or a cancellation for those three. No captured item this week names a funded award, stop-work or cancellation for them, and the primes' beats sit outside that claim's scope. Status is not decided here.

Source limits: price and RSI against moving averages; no contract awards, insider dollars or budget data. The thematic funds (DRNZ, JEDI, SHLD) and ITA are identified by name; their holdings were not checked. The thesis rating on file covers only nLIGHT (intact) and Planet Labs (broken). Elbit is a foreign issuer listed on a US exchange and Kraken Robotics' OTC line (KRKNF) has no symbol-registry row: both are research readings with no entry zone.

Stock Entry zone Thesis
LMT No fresh entry at RSI 78. A close over the 612.75 base pivot would be a breakout; a pullback that holds the 200-day (566.29), with the 538.09 shelf below, would be the flag +23.79% year, alpha 10.66; extended 14.5% over its 20-day; the report is out
TDY A held close above its 200-day (631.06); 612.7 shelf below; 697.67 pivot of a 24-week base +16.53% year, alpha 3.4; beat and raised October 21
RTX A held close above its 200-day (195.18); 185.53 shelf below; 220.49 pivot of a 9-week base Alpha turned negative (-6.68) on a +6.45% year; report is out
NOC A held close above its 200-day (592.7); 586 pivot of a 9-week base; 539.71 shelf Negative year and alpha (-22.1); RSI repair alone is not structure
MSI A hold of the 469.45 shelf; 494.85 pivot of a 12.4-week base Above its line but negative alpha and RSI 69; report November 4 (company-set)
UMAC A reclaim of its 200-day (19.15); 15.9 shelf below Alpha 30.13 on a +43.27% year; reports November 5 (provider estimate)
AVAV, KTOS, RCAT, AXON, PL, DPRO, ONDS, AMPX, LASR A reclaim of the 200-day ends each base: 191.35, 66.02, 10.69, 483.87, 26.99, 5.83, 9.21, 13.43, 57.8 (Axon shelf 400.99; nLIGHT 41.65 pivot of a 6.2-week base; none on file for the rest) Deep down years and negative alpha: early bases, 13.1% to 58.5% under their lines. The thesis rating on file for Planet Labs reads broken; nLIGHT's reads intact

AVEX, HLSQ None Too young for a 200-day (AEVEX); business-quality veto (Tessera)

What To Watch Next

Watch Why it matters
Lockheed's 612.75 pivot and its 200-day (566.29) A breakout over the pivot or a pullback that holds the line decides whether the report move is a base or a spike
RTX at 195.18 and Teledyne at 631.06 Both are within 2.1% of the line; a held close above would put both back over their 200-days; Teledyne's alpha is positive and RTX's is not
Northrop at 592.7 The bounce has not closed the 7.0% gap; a negative year is the harder test
Elbit's 800.43 pivot and 200-day (783.33) A clean break over both would make it the strongest chart on the list; next report November 24
AEVEX A dated item explaining Wednesday's drop, or a base above the new low; report scheduled November 11 (provider estimate)
Kratos November 3, Red Cat in November, AeroVironment December 2 The drone-defense campaign's own dated tests (provider dates); the campaign's next review is December 11
Motorola Solutions November 4 (company-set), Axon and Unusual Machines November 5 (provider estimates) Dated tests for the rest of the book
Gulf backdrop Brent settled near $117 on Friday on a flare-up in Middle East violence (Bloomberg, October 23); the U.S. ordered non-emergency staff out of Saudi Arabia on Thursday (CNBC, via the October 22 brief). Escalation is a backdrop, not a cause, for any price on this list
Tessera's split status A company release or filing on the reverse split would settle whether its price history is usable
